The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have reassigned right wings Steven Goertzen and Brandon Sugden to the Syracuse, The team also announced that Columbus has assigned goaltender Martin Prusek to Syracuse on a conditioning assignment. Prusek is expected to report to Syracuse on Thursday. Goertzen, 21, appeared in 57 games with Syracuse last season, recording 2 goals, 7 assists and 100 penalty minutes. In 65 career AHL games, all with Syracuse, Goertzen has tallied 2 goals, 10 assists and 104 penalty minutes. A native of Stony Plain, Alberta, Goertzen was Columbus’ 11th pick, 225th overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft. Sugden, 27, appeared in 45 games with Syracuse last season, recording 1 goal and 252 penalty minutes. In 118 career AHL games with Worcester and Syracuse, Sugden has tallied 4 goals, 5 assists and 591 penalty minutes. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Sugden was signed as a free agent by Columbus on April 19, 2004. |
